Part of them were still polyurethane, and those were the parts that ripped and broke really easily. But all-in-all, a decent boot for the $60 I paid back in 2009. I'm not sure I'd want to pay $90 for polyurethane, but that's your choice. Since the front is thick, it might not actually matter, and it might be just as good as the patent.
The sole is really good. Not heavy at all. I suggest getting some sole inserts, or some really thick socks. If you do that, you'll be able to walk and dance in these for hours.
Mine finally broke when the sole came off. It happened gradually in the last three months or so, and I'm not exactly gentle, so if you're gentle they could last you even longer.
Anyway, I really liked them. I'm not going to be getting this style again, but I enjoyed them while I had them. They're nice and simple (for large, stompy platforms), and don't overwhelm the outfit if you're not into the flashy chains and weird accessories and such that seem to be so popular these days.

These boots are great. They're comfortable, they're actually pretty easy to walk in, and the large surface area of the bottom makes them very stable. They're not as heavy as they look at all. However, they are not for walking distances in--very hard on the feet for going more than a block.

I got these a couple years ago for playa boots. They're great..however now after two years I am seeking a replacement. Quite comfortable and I personally didn't think they were too heavy. I did end up buying little boys soccer socks because they are thicker to wear with them and they are the perfect length so you don't see the sock sticking out from the boot. I've worn them out dancing, in the desert and in the mountains. Great boots for the price. I think this time I will get a different style though. I will mention that after a lot of wear they do start to slouch and I kept having to buckle them tighter and tighter to stay in place.

They look awesome, well-built, and even quite warm.
However, I got a pair of size 6 women (which is my size), but there's some extra space which causes my feet to rub against the shoes every time I take a step (hence discomfort & blisters). Maybe it's just because my feet/ankles are small, but there's still quite some space even after I've really tightened all the straps. You should remember that the heels are quite elevated and the soles are heavy, so to walk in them with more comfort, it's necessary for the shoes to fit tightly you. Otherwise it would feel like you're dragging them. It might even help to get 1 size smaller (since you can loosen all the straps anyway).
But even with all the complaints I have about them, they're actually easier to walk in than I previously imagined.

Got online looking for boots for my girlfriend who is a exotic dancer. Checked MANY sites and found these. Great price compared to anywhere else. Ordered using the cheapest shipping (7-10 days). They arrived in three days! They are extreamily comfortable (according to her) and are even better than pictured in the ad. Great buy. Highly recommend for any entertainer looking for goth style platform boots. A real best buy!
