3Better than I expected, not as good as I'd have liked.Nov 01, 2006

If you are like me and cursed with size 12 feet, then you have to hunt high and low to find boots. If you're like me and are also athletic and have muscular calves, then getting boots that will fit gets close to impossible.

Boots in large sizes tend to be either depressingly frumpy or distinctly tacky. I thought I'd give these a try simply because I hoped that the laces would allow me to deal with my muscles, and the whole Nanook of the North look wouldn't look too much like I'd escaped from the boudoir. The heel looked high enough that they would be fun and wouldn't make my feet look like flippers (Why is is that shoe makers assume that if you've got large feet, you want to wear flats? - Not!).

OK, so when you look at the price of these boots and the name of the manufacturer(!), and some of their other offerings(!) you have to have pretty low expectations, but hey I was desperate, so I ordered them - what the hell.

I was frankly pretty surprised, they were actually pretty comfortable, and didn't look outrageously slutty. What's more, the lacing is real in that you really could adjust the laces, and the tongue is very wide. They could have accommodated calves vastly larger than my already large ones. In fact, if you tend to the drinking straw shape of legs, you'll rattle around in these boots. [Aside: Incidentally, why is it that with all of the current fad for lace-up boots, they always seem to have a zip too? Great way to mess up the look.]

The biggest drawback from my point of view is that they are fully synthetic. Not a surprise, given the price, and perhaps even a plus to a vegan shoe shopper, but in my case this is a big bug, and the product description is sufficiently lame that you can't learn about the materials before ordering.

I plan to send them back on the basis of the synthetic materials, but I thought I'd put in a plug for them because, as I said, I was rather surprised at how well they worked.

If you're searching for boots in larger sizes for larger legs, then I highly recommend Moda's Nicely. These are really nice boots, even if not without flaws, and they will accommodate those of us without runway legs. I ordered a pair of the Moda boots at the same time, and will keep them.

4so cute!Sep 07, 2010

These boots are so cute.
They will be perfect for colder weather. Just need to spray them to make them waterproof.

5Great bootJan 09, 2010

I am cursed with a size 11 foot and above avg size calves from working out for 10 years. These boots are very comfortable and stylish with any suede jacket. The zipper plus laces are great to give you a custom feel for any size leg. Great deal and looks a lot better than the $40 price.

3So uncomfortableMar 10, 2009

Oh but we have to suffer for our beauty, dont we? I love these boots. They are so cute, I don't find them to be cheap looking at all, and I always get compliments when I wear them. The only thing is, I cant wear them to work because the heel tips your ankles at a weird angle, and by the end of the day, my ankles are killing me! I wear 4 inch heels to work every day (I work in an office, not a strip club, sinners...;)) so I'm used to walking in heels, usually with no problems. If you arent walking around much though, I highly recommend these shoes. I just wish I could wear them more often:(.

1Horrific materials, but fast shipping.Feb 06, 2009

Definitely returning these, the quality is terrible.
Disgusting synthetic leather that feels like it leaves a filmy residue on your hands, faux fur that absolutely reeks of plastic and a heel that I feel like I could snap off with my bare hands if I really tried. Also, the heel was not quite 4" nor was the shaft of the boot high enough to be called a "knee boot", it reached about 3/4 of the way up my calf (and I don't half exceptionally long legs). The lacing is not at all attractive, it's very wide and difficult to tighten around the foot itself, but much easier around the leg. Overall, not an attractive shoe.
On the other hand, shipping was fast, and I suppose you get what you pay for.
